Norman Cross

Born in 1915 and died in 1990 aged 75 in San Diego California. A professional engineer he worked in the automobile industry. For 16 years he worked in wind tunnel and towing basin testing. His interest in multihulls arose in the early 1950's and he designed and sailed catamarans.  By 1968 he has set up as a full time multihull designer. His designs were well engineered developments of the trimaran styles of Piver and others but he used round bilge construction with fixed keels for efficiency. He enjoyed racing successes too with some of his designs.
